Louvred windows, and oak frame houses

These last 2weeks I've been jumping between projects .
The first is these louvred windows that I am making for the Boathouse. They are western red cedar and there will 4 of these double openable windows and 3 single non-opening windows.
These windows have been a good stretch for my brain. Making templates for my router and trying to come up with the most eficient use of the table saw to quickly produce these.

This is veranda that Was built by the company I used to work for . But I have been commissioned to add studs and glaze the open end to make it a more useable room.
I'm just waiting for the glass now.

This is a two storey extension that I am building at the moment . It's very difficult to get a flattering photo as it is surrounded by scaffold. I am also waiting for some glass for this , then I can glaze the screen that you see below.

Salcombe timber boathouse

I've been so bloody flat out with getting this boat house to this stage ( quite a drive so it's early mornings and late nights) . But it is at the end of stage 2 now.

Most of the western red cedar weaterboarding is on . The clients went for a black die , that I wasn't that keen on a first but now I think it looks bloody fantastic.
It's instantly given it a Nordic - been up for centuries look and it realy makes the frame stand out.

Now that most of the direct glazing is fitted and the roof is nearly done  it's my time to spend some quality time in the workshop building Stairs, Louverd windows and A Door.

Stairway from Devon

A while ago I made some stairs for the clients at the boat house ( for a different part of the building) . They have finally been assembled and are looking pretty cool.

Oak Frame Boat House . Week one.

This week we put together the boat house.
This is a project that I have been designing and working toward for nearly a year.
We had to meet the spider crane at 5am as we were going to block the road for a few hours as we lifted all the timber down onto the slab.
Redneck travelling. It's always fun to ride on a trailor

Lifting the oak down onto the slab . The thought of getting this timber onto a very hard to reach site gave me many sleepless nights, but it went like clockwork.
1st components of frame going up. Of coarse it was going to fit.

This was my office for the week and will continue to be that way for the newt few weeks. Due to my leg still being week I have to direct and not be fitting. It's driving me nuts but I can't rush the leg mending.
Watching my team working hard gives me a great feeling . Well done fellas, it's almost worth all the crap and piss taking that I have to put up with.
Bodders "Topping off" the frame . This keeps the spirits away . We only do this if the clients bring us lots of tea and biscuits.
Last day this week and it pissed down.
Never mind , plenty more days to come. Keep posted.

The frame is all cut and all the dry oak glazing boards are done. I deliverd the timber to site this morn and will be erecting from Monday. In the meantime I'm going on holiday in Ireland to drink Guiness and hang out with 3 of my favorite people.
Keep posted of work on the frame.
I have also got my van sign writen

And I've been up on yonder moor picking curves for a big boathouse that will be my next big job.

Oak frame in South Brent.

Last week I helped a good couple of friends to raise a frame in South Brent ( officially the wettest place on the planet)

First day was beautiful and hot last day was pissing down and cold. The rain bypassed my hat and went strait into my ears and up my bloody nose , it wasn't bleeding it was just on my bloody wet face.
Abouve is Wet Dave .
Abouve is Dry Alan builder of the frame and all round top egg.

That's me piloting the spider crane it was fun for about 10 mins then was real noisy for 3 an 1/2 days.

Roof renovation .

Here are some finnished pics of the roof that I fixed in Salcombe
As you can see it is now a lovely , light , spacious room and it's a damn site stronger than the crap , all the important parts cut out by some person with no sympathy for structural loads .

This original picture just dosnt do justice to the state that the original roof was in.
Yeah me for being bloody ace at fixing stuff.
